A new take on Ancient Rome
SPQR (Senatus PopulusQue Romanus) is an abbreviation for ‘The Senate and People of Rome’.
It's also the title of a new history of Ancient Rome from the renowned Cambridge scholar Mary Beard.
She says there's still a lot to learn by engaging with such a formative and turbulent period in history.
